Visit Israel on a cruise

Situated at the southeastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea, Israel has always thrived on its tourist industry. The country is home to amazing scenery, from the stark desert outside Eilat in the south, to the sunny Mediterranean beaches of the coast, all the way to the ancient religious sites of the center and the north. Tourists in Israel can find good accommodations, good food, and good times.

But have you considered visiting Israel on a cruise? This small country is blessed with a long coast, and good harbors. Holland America and Princess cruise lines are resuming their calls to Haifa in the north, and Ashdod in the south. From either city, the options for the tourist are tremendous.

From Ashdod, the best Mediterranean beaches in Israel are within an hour’s drive, making it easy to soak up the sun, or go for a swim. The city itself is a mix of Israeli natives and Russian and Ethiopian immigrants, giving the visitor a unique look at a vibrant society. The religious minded traveler will find it easy to book a day trip to Jerusalem, and see the holy sites of three religions.

Haifa offers a gateway to the Galilee, Israel’s beautiful northern region. The entire area is dotted with archeological sites, and Christian pilgrims will not want to miss a trip to the Sea of Galilee, Israel’s largest lake and the site of Jesus’ early ministries.

This is just a little bit of what there is to see when you visit Israel on a cruise.
